Introducing WOWStudio Accessibility Remediation

A free WordPress plugin that finds, fixes and documents WCAG issues at the code level — real, reviewable fixes, and not an overlay.

Today we’re introducing WOWStudio Accessibility Remediation — a WordPress plugin that helps you find, fix and document accessibility issues in your site, at the level of the code itself.

Not an overlay

There’s a whole category of “accessibility” plugins that drop a script onto your site and layer a widget over the top. They change nothing underneath, they’re widely criticised by the disabled community, and they’ve drawn regulatory action. We don’t build those.

Accessibility Remediation does the opposite. It scans your pages against WCAG 2.2, shows every issue on a live preview of the real page, and proposes real changes to your markup — or to your own CSS — that you review before anything is applied. Nothing is ever added to your front end for your visitors.

What it does

  • Scans twice — a server-side pass over your markup, and a browser pass for the things only a rendered page shows: contrast, target size, real layout.
  • Shows you the issue on the page it came from, so you’re never guessing which element is meant.
  • Proposes reviewable fixes with a preview, a diff and an undo — stored reversibly, never overwriting your content.
  • Documents your work with an accessibility statement you review and publish.

Honest about the limits

Automated testing can only ever catch part of WCAG. It tells you exactly which findings a machine settled and which still need a person — and it will never tell you your site is “compliant”, because no plugin can.

It’s free, open source, and it makes no outbound requests of any kind. Explore the plugin →
